About The Position

At CHI Mercy Health, the Surgery Scheduler helps coordinate the operational logistics needed for surgical procedures. The role manages surgery schedules and resource allocation, maintains scheduling data and templates, and coordinates patient appointments and procedure preparations. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, communication skills, and proficiency with scheduling systems. A student loan repayment program is offered.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of related experience in a healthcare environment or current employment with CHI Mercy Health.
• Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills.
• Proficiency with scheduling systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the surgery schedule.
• Coordinate, register, and schedule patient appointments.
• Conduct patient pre-certification to confirm proper insurance approval for appointments and medical care.
• Ensure required pre-operative tests are scheduled and completed before surgery.
• Arrange necessary equipment, room availability, and pre-surgery medication before scheduled procedures.
• Communicate surgery preparation and arrival and departure instructions to patients, and answer their questions.
• Enter and maintain scheduling data, produce schedules, and oversee template maintenance.
