About The Position
The Physicians Clinic of Iowa Department of Orthopedics is seeking a full-time Surgery Scheduler for its busy practice. This individual will be responsible for the entire scheduling process.
Requirements
- Proficiency (or ability to become proficient) in EMR and related computer systems.
- Strong Commitment to patient care and teamwork.
- Excellent communication skills, professionalism, reliability, and maintaining confidentiality.
- Thorough understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in medical office performing similar functions.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate surgery with patient, hospital, anesthesia, and physician’s schedule.
- Schedule labs, radiology studies, and EKG’s when indicated.
- Schedule preadmission surgical appointments if indicated.
- Schedule appointments with family physician, cardiologist, or any referring physicians if appropriate.
- Work with Prior Authorization team to obtain insurance prior authorizations for diagnostic testing and surgical procedures.
