About The Position

Wilson Health is seeking a direct-hire Surgery Registered Nurse for its location in Sidney, Ohio (North Dayton, Ohio area). The Surgical Services Department performs over 4,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries and procedures annually across various specialties including gynecology, orthopedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, ENT, urology, podiatry, plastic surgery, and endoscopy, as well as radiology interventional procedures. The department is staffed by a team of board-certified surgeons and anesthesiologists, highly skilled registered nurses, surgical technologists, sterile processing technicians, medical assistants, and X-ray technologists. The Surgery Registered Nurse functions independently as a scrub and/or circulator, providing care to patients in the Operating Room/Endoscopy. This role ensures a safe operating room environment, proper equipment function, and conditions that maximize patient safety during invasive surgical procedures.

Requirements

  • Current Ohio RN license
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 2 months of hire and maintained.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 year of hire and maintained.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
  • One to two years of Medical-Surgical experience or two years perioperative services experience preferred.
  • Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete thorough and ongoing assessments of assigned patient in a timely and professional manner on each assigned patient on arrival to the Operating Room and throughout the OR stay determining total nursing needs and plans intra-operative nursing care.
  • Protect the patient from injury caused by chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical, thermal sources and extraneous objects.
  • Perform interventions necessary to ensure that the patient's procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level.
  • Manage the patient's specimens in the appropriate manner.
  • Communicating the patient's current status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care.
  • Administer medications safely and correctly.
  • Strives to maintain current education in surgical procedures and related aspects of nursing care.
  • Consults, observes, and assists others in order to increase personal knowledge.
