About The Position

The Surgery Coordinator coordinates all aspects of surgical procedure scheduling and the facility’s daily operations. The role also includes material management and inventory control. The coordinator works Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. PST, and may travel locally between practices.

Requirements

At least one year of experience in a surgical specialty practice; ophthalmology experience is preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Computer literacy.
Ability to manage a high volume of patient surgical scheduling.
Positive attitude, professionalism, and ability to promote team cohesion.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; frequently stand, walk, and sit; frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.
Close, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Schedule patient surgical and pre-operative appointments, including appointments with patients’ optometrists.
Counsel patients on surgery, including eye-drop instructions and instructions for the day of surgery and post-operative care.
Collect information needed for upcoming surgeries, including bookings, insurance information, histories and physicals, and signed consent forms, and transfer it to the surgical facility.
Perform accurate calculations as required, including LASIK calculations and other indicated calculations.
Answer telephone inquiries from patients and Shared Care doctors about surgery and related concerns.
Assist with daily operating room functions for surgical cases.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Manage materials and control inventory.
