About The Position

This role provides support to a dedicated office PA and two RNs within the Advanced Heart Failure department. The patient volume is 15-25 inpatients, with a caseload of 5-8 CABG surgeries per week and 4-6 robotic thoracic/chest cases. The patient age group is adult. The EMR/Documentation system used is EPIC, and experience with this system is required. Special procedures include endoscopic vein harvesting, and first assist is required. In addition to CABG and robotic cases, Cone Health also performs several open and TAVR valve procedures weekly. The provider will work closely with a strong advanced heart failure team, requiring occasional LVAD and Impella placements.

Requirements

• Board Certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery required.
• State of NC License required.
• Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies required.
• Endoscopic vein harvesting experience required.
• DEA required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience required.
• EPIC EMR/Documentation system experience required.
• Vaccinations are mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Provide support within the Advanced Heart Failure department.
• Perform 1st assist duties during surgical procedures.
• Assist with CABG surgeries.
• Assist with robotic thoracic/chest cases.
• Assist with open and TAVR valve procedures.
• Participate in occasional LVAD and Impella placements.
