About The Position

This is a contract position for a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Advanced Practice Provider (APP) at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA. The role involves providing care for infants and neonates, with a primary need for night shifts. The APP will work 12-hour shifts, rotating between days, nights, and weekends, with a requirement of 5 shifts per month. The patient load varies, with 8 mixed acuity patients on day shift and 20-30 on night shift. The department is a Level 4 NICU, and the APP must be able to work independently and have experience with high-risk deliveries. The hospital has 64 beds and utilizes EPIC as its EMR. Special procedures include ECMO support (managed by Fellows), Intubation, Lines, Lumbar puncture, Vent management, PICC, UAC, and UVC.

Requirements

  • Board Certification: Yes, Neonatology
  • License required: No, VA state licensing is approx. 8 weeks. (will need by start)
  • DEA: Yes
  • CSR: Yes
  • Certifications required: BLS, PALS
  • Minimum experience required: 2 years’ experience in NICU, needs to be neonatal trained
  • Must have level 4 NICU experience w/in the past year
  • Able to work independently/autonomously
  • High risk deliveries experience is needed
