Do you enjoy analyzing financial information, solving complex business challenges, and building strong professional relationships? If so, Liberty Mutual's Surety Underwriting Development Program (SUDP) may be the perfect place to launch your career. As an Associate Surety Underwriter, you'll participate in a 12-month development program designed to build the technical, analytical, and business skills needed for a successful underwriting career. Working alongside experienced underwriters, you'll learn how surety bonds support economic growth, commercial development, and infrastructure projects while helping businesses pursue new opportunities and fulfill contractual obligations. Surety underwriting blends financial analysis, risk assessment, and relationship management. Throughout the program, you'll learn how to evaluate the financial strength, creditworthiness, and operational capabilities of businesses, while developing the judgment needed to make informed underwriting decisions. You'll gain hands-on experience analyzing financial statements, assessing credit and project risk, evaluating contracts, and supporting real underwriting decisions. At the same time, you'll build relationships with agents, brokers, customers, and industry partners while strengthening your communication, business development, and negotiation skills. The Surety Underwriting Development Program combines formal training, mentorship, self-study, job rotations, and on-the-job learning. Through a collaborative learning environment, you'll gain exposure to various products, teams, and leaders across the organization while developing a strong foundation in contract and commercial surety underwriting. As part of the program, you'll pursue the Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (AFSB) designation while applying underwriting concepts through case studies, financial analysis, contract evaluation, and project risk assessment.
