About The Position

CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is seeking a full-time Support Worker. This role involves providing direct support, skill development, and community resource linkages to individuals with psychiatric and/or substance use disabilities, aiming to enable them to live independently. The position is primarily field-based (70-80%), requiring meetings with individuals served to review service plans and assess needs. Progress notes must be completed conjointly at the time of service and meet regulatory standards. The approach is person-centered and collaborative, focusing on equipping residents with the knowledge, skills, and resources for independent living and addressing emergent issues for self-care. This includes supporting individuals across the 8 dimensions of wellness, participating in service plan development and delivery, and providing advocacy and community-based support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a mental health related discipline OR High School Diploma / GED with 4 years of related experience.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and accurate billable progress notes.
  • Exceptional time management skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and people skills.
  • A prominent level of patience and emotional resilience.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Proficient in MS Office products and general computer literacy.
  • Proven ability to engage and support individuals with mental health diagnoses using empathy, professionalism, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Valid NJ Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • Lived Experience: Prioritizes hiring people who use their life experience with a mental health diagnosis or substance use to inspire and support others.
