About The Position

CSPNJ, a mental health nonprofit agency, is seeking a full-time Support Worker. This role involves providing direct support, skill development, and community resource linkages to individuals with psychiatric and/or substance use disabilities. The primary goal is to enable individuals to live independently. The position requires significant time in the field (70-80%) to meet with individuals, review service plans, and assess needs. Progress notes must be completed concurrently with service delivery and meet regulatory standards. The approach is person-centered and collaborative, aiming to equip residents with the knowledge, skills, and resources for independent living and to address emergent issues related to self-care. Support will be provided across the 8 dimensions of wellness. Responsibilities include participating in service plan development and delivery, and advocacy for community-based support. There is a rotating on-call schedule for weekends, with additional compensation for on-call duties and outreach.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a mental health related discipline OR High School Diploma / GED with 4 years of related experience.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and accurate billable progress notes.
  • Exceptional time management skills to support multiple residents.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent communication, assessment, and people skills.
  • A prominent level of patience and emotional resilience.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure when dealing with challenging situations.
  • Proficient in MS Office products and general computer literacy.
  • Proven ability to engage and support individuals with mental health diagnoses using empathy, professionalism, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Valid NJ Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Lived Experience with a mental health diagnosis or substance use is prioritized.

Responsibilities
