About The Position

AbleLiving Services, part of the Thrive Group, is a not-for-profit organization funded by Ontario Health. This Part-Time Support Services Worker position is for the Binbrook team and involves various tasks including laundry, housekeeping, and food services.

Requirements

  • Ability to work 4:00pm-8:00pm
  • Access to a reliable vehicle (location not accessible by public transit)
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check or Police Records Check
  • Ability to obtain a Food Handler’s Certificate within 60 days of starting
  • Reliable, punctual, and great time management skills
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing, bending, and lifting items of varying weights
  • Positive attitude and excitement to contribute to a caring community

Nice To Haves

  • At least a Grade 10 education
  • Experience in long-term care or retirement home settings
  • Knowledge of cleaning detergents and laundering equipment

Responsibilities

  • Collecting, laundering and returning clients' personal laundry, with occasional simple sewing repairs
  • Performing housekeeping tasks in clients' rooms and common areas using appropriate equipment and cleaning products
  • Assisting the Cook with maintaining food inventory
  • Assisting with meal preparation, ensuring safe food preparation and handling practices
  • Setting and serving meals to clients
  • Working with the Cook, other staff, and clients to create a welcoming environment
