About The Position

AbleLiving Services is currently hiring a Part Time (Nights) Registered Practical Nurse to join their Binbrook Team. AbleLiving Services is a not-for-profit organization that provides services funded through Ontario Health. Their Binbrook location is a 52-bed home that includes permanent beds, transitional beds, and 6 beds for clients who require ventilator assistance. The position involves monitoring the health status of persons with disabilities and the senior population, providing nursing services within a defined scope of practice, and monitoring the building to ensure the security and safety of clients, staff and guests, taking appropriate action in an emergency situation. Requirements

  • Completion of a vocational, college or other approved program for licensed practical nurses and registration with a regulatory body are required
  • Must have successfully completed the Canadian Practical Nurses Registration Examination and possess a current Registered Nursing Certificate of Competence for the Province of Ontario
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Must demonstrate the ability to use tact and discretion and display professionalism at all times
  • Must demonstrate sound judgment and flexibility and be able to solve problems effectively
  • Must be able to meet physical requirements of the job such as lifting and transferring of residents
  • Access to a vehicle or reliable transportation is required

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Behaviour Strategies is an asset
  • May be required to pursue a certificate in bliss symbols and/or sign language
  • Experience as an RPN working with persons with a disability and the senior population is an asset
