Cogir Senior Living is seeking a Part-time Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for evening shifts. Cogir manages retirement residences across the country, offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care, with over 25 years dedicated to the happiness of retirees. This involves building trusted relationships, implementing and evaluating care plans, ensuring accurate clinical documentation, and providing coaching and mentorship to unregulated care providers. Requirements

  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province
  • Demonstrated sound clinical knowledge
  • Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
  • Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required
  • Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred
  • Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset

Responsibilities

  • Providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care
  • Building trusted relationships with residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication
  • Implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of the care plans and making changes as required
  • Completing and ensuring resident’s clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicate changes as required
  • Teaching, delegating and directing unregulated care providers, providing them with coaching & mentorship
