About The Position

AbleLiving Services, a not-for-profit organization part of Thrive Group, provides services funded through Ontario Health. The organization is hiring part-time Personal Attendants for its Community Outreach Program. This role involves working in the community, going home-to-home to provide non-medical support to individuals with complex medical needs and conditions. The position requires availability to start at 7:00 am and work every other weekend. Under the direction of the program coordinator, the Personal Attendant is responsible for delivering non-medical personal support services, life-skills support, and light housekeeping duties to help clients live as independently as possible. This includes assisting with personal care, arranging and escorting clients to appointments, and performing housekeeping services, all carried out under the client's direction or an alternate decision maker, and in compliance with Client Service Contracts, laws, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Experience in the provision of personal support services to people with disabilities and/or seniors
  • Ability to empathize with people with physical and emotional needs
  • Knowledge of basic math and ability to do calculations and quantity measurements
  • Ability to plan and organize work and perform tasks according to priority
  • Ability to make solid decisions and problem-solve effectively
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with a competent level of English
  • Demonstrate high commitment to providing exceptional customer service
  • Be reliable, punctual, and capable of managing time effectively
  • Ability to develop supportive relationships and work collaboratively with clients, family members, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners
  • Ability to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check or Criminal Reference Check

Nice To Haves

  • Additional certification in personal support care, first aid, health care or other related qualification
  • Able to communicate in other languages
