About The Position

Under the direction of the Adjutant, this position ensures a consistently high level of environmental hygiene and aesthetics for patients, visitors, and staff at the Illinois Veterans Affairs Home. This role serves as a lead worker, conducting monthly meetings with support service staff, maintaining required records, and preparing routine and special reports. The coordinator also oversees and inspects the work performance of outside contractors to ensure quality and adherence to contract specifications. Performs other duties as required or assigned within the scope of the role.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school.
  • Requires two (2) years of experience, such as could be gained at the support service provider level in the support service functional areas of housekeeping.
  • Requires ability to pass a background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical.
  • Requires ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
  • Requires ability acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
  • Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
  • Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
  • This position is considered heavy work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(d)). Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Overtime is a condition or employment, and you may be required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last-minute overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures a consistently high level of environmental hygiene and aesthetics to patients, visitors and staff with the Illinois Veterans Affairs Home.
  • Serves as lead worker.
  • Conducts monthly meetings with support service staff.
  • Maintains required records and prepares routine and special reports.
  • Coordinates and inspects work performance of outside contractors within the service area to ensure and verify presence of contractor and quality of performance required by contract specifications.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
