About The Position

This position is for a Registered Nurse I within the Department of Veterans' Affairs, specifically at the IVH-C facility. The role involves providing a full range of professional nursing services for residents, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, performing nursing assessments, and observing physical conditions and reactions to treatments. The nurse will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining medical records, providing guidance to non-professional nursing staff, making regular rounds, operating special equipment, and managing medications and medical supplies. This is a full-time, salaried position with a significant number of vacancies.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved nursing education program resulting in an associate or diploma degree in nursing or a bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical
  • Ability to establish rapport with individuals
  • Ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers
  • Ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate
  • Ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties
  • Ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate
  • Heavy work: lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Administering medications
