About The Position

The Project Manager (Programmatic Support) provides advisory and assistance support to government Program Managers, military leadership, technical experts, and execution contractors for the Missile Support Program at the AFRL Rocket and Space Propulsion Division (AFRL/RJP). The mission is to provide research and test support for the safe, secure, and reliable sustainment and modernization of the nation’s strategic deterrent systems. This is a non-decision-making contractor support role; the project manager provides independent program visibility and recommendations, while government officials retain authority over program execution. The successful candidate manages an assigned portfolio, focusing on baseline performance monitoring, schedule integration, risk assessment, and strategic reporting. The role operates within a multi-contractor, integrated program office and is located at Edwards AFB, California.

  • Ability to analyze complex schedules, including Gantt charts, critical paths, and milestones, and financial execution data to identify variances.
  • Flexibility and poise in a high-visibility, fast-paced, highly regulated defense acquisition environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including translating technical data into strategic advice and briefings for military and civilian leadership.
  • High proficiency with project management software such as MS Project, Jira, or equivalent, and the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong familiarity with Department of War acquisition processes, lifecycle management, or aerospace/missile systems.
