The Supply Chain Operations Manager is accountable for all Plant’s supply chain activities, including following commodity markets and basing purchasing decisions on market availability, seasonality, and company’s product specifications. When appropriate, this role secures short-term purchasing contracts on opportunity buys. The manager oversees the entire procurement needs of the plant and assists the Director of Plant Operations in managing the Plant’s cost of goods to maintain it within budget. This position also manages the warehouse operations budget and personnel, ensuring operations conform to company standards. They ensure that all shipping and receiving is executed in a timely manner and that all paperwork is filled out and secured, working closely with AP/AR. The role rigidly executes Company’s Safety policies and procedures and is responsible for the safety of all warehouse personnel. Additionally, the manager oversees the Maintenance department and is responsible for executing the Preventive Maintenance program of the Plant, working closely with Department leads to ensure equipment is in optimum operational condition. This role supports the Operations team by ensuring processing equipment is ready for pre-operational inspections daily. Through direct reports, the manager oversees efficiency, planning & productivity of Procurement, Maintenance, and Warehouse departments across multiple shifts, supporting production operations with quality ingredients and equipment efficiency that meet established quality, customer service, safety, sanitation, innovation, and cost metrics. This position reports directly to the Director of Plant Operations and works under limited supervision, leading by example. The manager maintains a positive work environment and ensures fair and consistent treatment of all associates, demonstrating care and compassion for people and showing empathy and concern. They set a positive example of company values and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all budgetary numbers of the Warehouse and Maintenance departments.
  • Under the direction of Plant’s Director, manages the cost of goods and keeps it within budget.
  • Interacts and communicates at a high level with other corporate directors and VP’s and is responsible for meeting timelines and quality standards related to the departments under direct supervision.
  • Responsible for the safety and well-being of warehouse and maintenance associates.
  • Responsible to maintain infrastructure of Plant and takes decisive corrective action when required.
  • Supports the Food Safety & Quality Assurance programs and ensures that Plant operates at optimum conditions according to GFSI regulations & industry standards.
  • Responsible for all warehousing, shipping, and receiving of raw materials and finished goods and ensures that all receiving and shipping happens according to plan.
  • Works in conjunction with Corporate Chef on executing all new product initiatives and ensures to communicate updates to Stores, Corporate & Staff when appropriate.
  • Manages labor schedules of warehouse and maintenance departments.
  • Manages inventory controls and cycle counting of facility.
  • Ensures proper rotation of entire raw material and mechanical parts inventory.
  • Ensures that Maintenance department rigidly executes the Lock-out / tag out program.
  • Maintains a fulfillment ratio according to Industry standards not lower than 98.5%.
  • Ensures that all paperwork is sent to AP/AR in a timely manner and works closely with Finance to resolve any billing discrepancies.
  • Works closely with Corporate Chef to develop all NGM product specifications.
  • Maintains all specs current and up to date.
  • In conjunction with Corporate Chef, are the ultimate authority to change or introduce any new product specification in system.
  • Ensures all processes meet customer’s specification requirements and always minimizes risk to the company.
  • Responsible for maintaining a qualified and productive staff to meet and/or exceed the expected level of performance and demands of stores and plant.
  • Deals directly with vendors and maintains a cordial relationship with all.
  • Develop and monitor a continuous improvement methodology directed at improving performance in the departmental areas assigned, including productivity, quality, safety, attendance, sanitation, yields and cost reduction/control.
  • Responsible for initiating and developing processes for monitoring, measuring, and reporting key performance initiatives within procurement, maintenance, and warehouse departments.
  • Optimize new product development through the standardization of materials and process to insure repeatability.
  • Consistently apply all Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Responsible for implementing an effective preventive maintenance program on all equipment pieces in Plant, working in conjunction with Maintenance Manager.
  • Ensures effective communications between all departments, i.e., Quality Control, warehousing, human resources, sanitation, maintenance, etc.
  • Directs and coordinates with team members, (i.e., supervisor and operators) all product changeovers.
  • Communicates / coordinates staffing and training requirements with Human Resources for labor scheduling, forecasting, and reduction in force requirements, ensuring operating requirements are met effectively and efficiently promotes and maintains positive relationships among all levels of management and associates.
  • Responsible for maintaining training programs developed to educate and protect all associates under his/her leadership and ensures that all associates have a path for improvement on all work-related areas and that are constantly monitored for reward and/or coaching as necessary.
