As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Director, Supply Chain for our AMS Operations business unit based in Torrance, CA. The Director, Supply Chain is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational execution of all supply chain functions, including procurement, planning, inventory management, logistics, and supplier management. This role ensures the timely, cost-effective, and compliant flow of materials required to support manufacturing, engineering, and customer delivery commitments in a highly regulated aerospace and defense environment.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of procurement, planning, inventory management, logistics, and supplier management.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal communication and management skills.
  • Successfully work with customers, clients and supply chain partners.
  • Ability to concurrently manage a portfolio of projects, including adapting to changes, planning, and prioritizing work.
  • Limited travel required in support of major projects and strategic supply chain partner visits.
  • Knowledge of Buy American Act and other aerospace/defense sourcing restrictions.
  • Knowledge of ITAR, FAR, DFARS, and related compliance requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations Management or related field.
  • 10+ years of professional industry-related experience.
  • Experience working with Military Specifications, ISO9001, AS9100 and other aerospace/defense standards.
  • Experience supporting government contracts and defense programs.
  • Experience in managing complex supply chains to support a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar.
  • US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with company growth objectives, operational requirements, and customer commitments.
  • Lead sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management activities for a variety of product categories including turnkey assemblies, discrete electronic and mechanical components, and value-add services.
  • Develop strategic supplier relationships to ensure quality, cost competitiveness, delivery performance, and supply continuity.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, long-term agreements, and supplier terms.
  • Evaluate and mitigate supply chain risks, including sole-source suppliers, obsolescence, industry shortages, and capacity constraints.
  • Drive supplier performance improvements through scorecards, supplier visits, corrective actions, and regular business reviews.
  • Ensure adequate material availability while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Develop procurement strategies to improve turns, reduce working capital requirements, and support customer delivery requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for strategic stocking of inventory to mitigate risk and/or reduce costs.
  • Oversee shipping activities, freight management, and logistics providers.
  • Drive effective utilization of ERP and planning systems to improve visibility, accuracy, and decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace/defense, government contracting, and quality management requirements.
  • Maintain supplier register / approved supplier list.
  • Ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS requirements, flow-down clauses, and approved supplier requirements as applicable.
  • Work closely with Manufacturing and Operations to optimize material flow and production support.
  • Establish supply chain metrics and brief leadership on performance.
