Director, Supply Chain

Terawatt Infrastructure•San Francisco, CA
•$195,000 - $210,000

About The Position

Terawatt Infrastructure is seeking its first dedicated supply chain leader and senior owner of vendor relationships for Owner Furnished Equipment (OFE) used at its sites, including EVSE, switchboards, transformers, switchgear, modular buildings, and on-site IT infrastructure equipment. The Director will ensure equipment arrives on time, at the right cost, and to the right quality standard as Terawatt’s development and construction pipeline grows. This is a foundational, build-from-scratch role. The Director will shape the Supply Chain function by defining sourcing strategy, supplier base, procurement processes, and inventory discipline while remaining hands-on with vendor relationships and long-lead procurement decisions. The role will build and lead a Supply Chain team as the portfolio expands. It reports to the CFO and connects Technology, Operations, and Finance by translating the site pipeline into procurement plans and supply chain risks into actionable leadership decisions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain and procurement, including senior leadership of complex, technical vendor relationships at the Director level or equivalent.
  • Experience owning or establishing a supply chain function or program, setting strategy, defining its operating model, and being accountable for outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage long-lead-time, constrained, or sole-source procurement categories.
  • Track record of hiring, building, and leading high-performing supply chain or procurement teams, and comfort operating hands-on while the function is being built.
  • Experience sourcing and managing electrical or industrial equipment vendors, such as switchgear, transformers, generators, modular or prefabricated structures, or similar capital equipment.
  • Technical fluency to discuss equipment lead times, capacity constraints, and quality standards credibly.
  • Clear, credible communication with senior leadership, including the ability to shape functional strategy and present risks and tradeoffs concisely.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in EV charging, energy, utility-scale electrical infrastructure, or large-scale infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and drive the Supply Chain strategy and roadmap with key stakeholders, with accountability for cost, schedule, and quality outcomes across OFE categories.
  • Define the function’s operating model, standards, and success metrics, and evolve them as the business scales.
  • Represent supply chain risks and tradeoffs as a senior partner to Technology, Operations, and Finance leadership.
  • Partner with the CFO on supply chain budget planning, working capital, and staffing needs.
  • Own end-to-end vendor management for OFE categories, including vendor selection, contracting, and ongoing relationship management.
  • Establish sourcing strategies for long-lead and constrained items, including dual-sourcing and mitigation of lead-time and allocation risks.
  • Lead supplier negotiations and contracting for pricing, warranty terms, service-level commitments, and volume-based agreements.
  • Align procurement and material delivery schedules with development and commissioning milestones.
  • Develop and manage an inventory and spares strategy across the site portfolio, balancing working capital with uptime and replacement-time requirements.
  • Partner with Technology and Operations to ensure OFE meets applicable electrical, safety, and interoperability standards, and coordinate warranty and defect resolution with vendors.
  • Establish and track supplier KPIs, including on-time delivery, quality and defect rates, cost performance, and lead-time trends; drive corrective action plans with underperforming vendors.
  • Build the Supply Chain function from the ground up, initially managing OFE vendor relationships and procurement, and grow the team as the portfolio expands.
  • Build a culture of accountability, follow-through, and responsiveness across the function.
  • Represent Supply Chain in cross-departmental planning with Development, Technology, Construction, Commissioning, Operations, and Finance, aligning stakeholders on schedule and cost tradeoffs.
  • Manage supply chain risk through a formal risk register, alternate sourcing plans, and proactive escalation, bringing recommendations to leadership.
  • Implement and improve procurement systems and processes, such as purchase order workflows, ERP or procurement tool selection, and supplier onboarding.
