About The Position

This entry-level supplemental position is responsible for maintaining data for the Trauma Registry, including data abstraction and ICD-10 and Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) coding. The role requires residence in Texas and involves 8-hour shifts. Trauma registry experience is preferred.

Requirements

Must reside in Texas.
Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology.
Basic knowledge of computer applications, including Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

Trauma registry experience.
ICD-10 and Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS) coding experience.
Relevant healthcare or coding work experience.

Responsibilities

Analyze and review patient medical records, abstract data from data sources, and code and enter data into the trauma registry while ensuring data accuracy.
Maintain quality control of the registry program.
Assist with collecting registry data for performance improvement and registry projects.
Complete data abstraction in a timely manner and meet deadlines established by the Trauma Service Line.
Attend assigned educational opportunities to enhance skills.
Adhere to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards, including requirements for time management, supply management, productivity, accuracy, and quality of service.
Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors.
Promote professional growth and development by meeting mandatory and continuing education and skills competency requirements.
Support department-based goals and serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
Provide compassionate, personalized, safe, and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues in keeping with Memorial Hermann’s service standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
