About The Position

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Office of Information Technology, Infrastructure User Services Group (IUSG), Division of Operations Management (DOM). As a Supervisory IT Specialist (Security), GS-2210-14, you will lead staff responsible for managing and overseeing the operations, enhancement, and delivery of services for the multi-tier processing platforms and IT resources within IUSG-managed Data Centers.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Subject to a background and suitability investigation.
  • Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
  • One-year probationary period may be required.

  • Federal salary payments must be made by direct deposit.
  • IT related experience, demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates the following four competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving.
  • At least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, including: Administering or supporting a data center or Hybrid Cloud operations, including incident response, implementation planning, or security procedures; Ensuring compliance with IT security policy, via vulnerability mitigation, security audits, and corrective action tracking; Assisting in providing team leadership, including assigning tasks, setting priorities, coordinating technical projects, and providing technical recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Assume full operational authority for the Division in the Director's absence, acting with full authority of commitment within the Division's jurisdiction.
  • Mobilize and coordinate a diverse staff of federal and contractor IT professionals across multiple IT specialty areas.
  • Serve as technical expert and advisor to CMS leadership at the Group, Center, and Agency level on IT security policy, disaster recovery planning, and Data Center operations.
  • Oversee operational security of the CMS IT infrastructure, including Access Control Systems and response to security incidents.
