About The Position

This role assists with the training and supervision of track employees on an assigned territory. It involves inspecting all assigned track, detecting abnormalities, and determining corrective actions to ensure the safe movement of trains. The position also involves assuming managerial duties on alternate weekends and holidays, providing inspection reports, assisting with administrative tasks, and planning work within budget. A key aspect is maintaining FRA certification for track/bridge inspection, RWIC qualification, and knowledge of Norfolk Southern Safety and Operating Rules.

Requirements

Must have FRA certification for track/bridge inspection

Responsibilities

Inspects all assigned track, both company as well as customer owned, as required by company and federal requirements.
Detects abnormalities in the track structure and is able to determine the proper course of action for immediate correction, whenever possible, or other remedial action to protect the movement of trains without unnecessary delay.
Assumes the responsibilities and duties of his manager on alternate weekends and holidays, and whenever the manager is absent.
Provides necessary inspection record reports, and assists with correspondence, material requisitions, charge-outs, payroll approval, procurement, and credit card review.
Assists in planning and organizing the work to be done on a territory within the authorized budget.
