About The Position

Assists with the training and supervision of track employees on an assigned territory. This role involves inspecting assigned track, detecting abnormalities, and determining corrective actions to ensure train movement safety. The position also requires reporting, assisting with administrative tasks, and planning work within budget. A key aspect is assuming managerial responsibilities during absences and possessing necessary certifications and knowledge of safety rules.

Requirements

  • Must have FRA certification for track/bridge inspection
  • Must have roadway worker in charge (RWIC) qualification
  • Must have knowledge of Norfolk Southern Safety and Operating Rules

Responsibilities

  • Inspects all assigned track, both company as well as customer owned, as required by company and federal requirements.
  • Detects abnormalities in the track structure and is able to determine the proper course of action for immediate correction, whenever possible, or other remedial action to protect the movement of trains without unnecessary delay.
  • Assumes the responsibilities and duties of his manager on alternate weekends and holidays, and whenever the manager is absent.
  • Provides necessary inspection record reports, and assists with correspondence, material requisitions, charge-outs, payroll approval, procurement, and credit card review.
  • Assists in planning and organizing the work to be done on a territory within the authorized budget.
