About The Position

Supervises the Shop Services crews to assure work is coordinated and completed safely, efficiently and on schedule to support the reliable and safe operation of the electrical system. Supervisor ensures compliance with safety rules, Company policies and procedures, as well as job specifications and regulatory standards. Supervisor provides leadership to the crews, utilizing departmental background, interpersonal skills, coaching skills and technical expertise.

Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of five years of experience as Head Journeyman.
  • Requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in Shop Services activities in support of Electric and Gas Operations.
  • Requires a high school education or a G.E.D. providing the equivalent knowledge of English, basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and calculation of fractions and/or percentages), grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the daily activities of assigned crew(s), under the direction of the Fleet Shop Services manager.
  • Prioritizes, schedules and assigns work to achieve business goals. Ensures tailboard meetings are held and are effective.
  • Safeguards self as well as fellow workers and the public in the course and scope of business by following safety rules set forth in the Company’s Accident Prevention Manual. Assures that safety meetings are held regularly and effectively.
  • Addresses unsafe practices or situations and takes appropriate action.
  • Coordinates between various departments and various external agencies to assure timely completion of work and provides technical expertise as needed.
  • Sets the standard for crews regarding customer service.
  • Administers company policy within area work groups.
  • Manages employee performance, encourages, motivates, coaches, trains, holds subordinates accountable and resolves employee conflicts.
  • Manages resources, including budget, equipment, tools and instruments.
  • Exhibits behavior consistent with all Company values, policies and procedures.
  • Complies with and supports the Company, its management and policies.
  • Assures the effective and efficient procurement, distribution and use of materials for the crew(s) and maintains effective records to document.
  • Monitors, maintains, and updates manual and computerized work management records, assuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Audits field personnel by visually monitoring work progress and ensures correct procedures are followed on a regular basis.
  • Ensures that applicable employee personnel files are maintained with performance documentation as appropriate.
  • Prepares and delivers both formal and informal oral and written communications related to service area activities.
  • Represents the division, department or company on internal work teams and with external parties as required.
  • Maintains effective working relationships with management, co-workers and customers.
  • Researches issues and facilitates work orders. This may include securing access, obtaining permits, verifying security clearances, etc.
  • Schedules outages as required.
  • Maintains a regular and reliable level of attendance. Sets the example for the crew.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge and understanding of bargaining unit agreement.
