About The Position

Assist the Senior Manager, Safety & Security Operations execute the Safety & Security department’s mission by planning and performing the day-to-day functions to ensure the protection of individuals, tenants, and the traveling public and compliance of the internal and external rules and regulations imposed by JFKIAT, and the Federal, State, City and local governing authorities.

Requirements

  • Three years of aviation specific security experience OR three years of experience in a security supervisory role preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal science or aviation strongly preferred; One (1) year of directly related professional experience may substitute for one (1) year of the required education up to (4) years.
  • Must obtain AAAE Security ACE certification, PANYNJ airside driver qualification (DR-1 designation), and complete SOC Training curriculum within 1 year of hire date.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances required to work at an airport.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must hold “REAL” identification to obtain a Port Authority badge and US Customs and Border Protection Seal.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a liaison in a supporting role to the Operations Duty Manager on a shift-to-shift basis for safety & security matters including crisis response.
  • Provides specific safety and security knowledge, guidance and key contacts for internal/external SOP, rules and regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Focus on daily operations and supervise the Security Operations Center (SOC) staff and Visitor Center subcontracted staff on a day-to-day basis.
  • Serves to uphold, maintain, document, and audit all policies pertaining to internal requirements and governing authorities’ regulations, including but not limited to, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Center for Disease Control (CDC), Terminal Security Plan (TSP), Airport Emergency Plans (AEP), and Airport Security Programs (ASP).
  • Ensures patrols and security checks are performed by terminal operations/security personnel.
  • Conducts required audits to maintain compliance and uphold safety and security measures.
  • Conducts risk assessments to manage and mitigate potential hazards to improve safety performance.
  • Conducts internal safety and security audits, and generates, updates, and maintains statistical daily, weekly, and monthly control reports based on audit findings/results.
  • Supervises the access control database for Terminal 4 employees, and investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves applicable PANYNJ (Port Authority of NY & NJ) badge issues with PANYNJ as it relates to Terminal 4 (T4) access.
  • Assists law enforcement and other stakeholders with investigations by use of CCTV footage, access control software and other means.
  • Maintains the integrity of all safety & security related processes, enforces rules and regulations, issues warnings and infraction, and responds to all accidents/incidents as it pertains to the day-to-day operations of airside, terminal, and landside functions.
  • Oversee relevant Safety & Security systems and liaison with its vendors and other JFKIAT departments as they pertain to the day-to-day functions to maintain business continuity.
  • Assist with projects as it relates to the Safety & Security of the Terminal.
  • Verifies, collaborates, and responds as needed for safety & security related matters and communicates to Operations and Safety & Security Management for situational awareness.
  • Provides general safety & security guidelines for T4 airlines, tenants, employees, and as necessary, visitors and the traveling public.
  • Reviews and prepares incident reports, analyzes data and trends, and documents administrative activities per established policy and procedures.
  • Supervises the JFKIAT Safety & Security Contracts relating to Landside Traffic, Employee & Goods Screening, and Building Security, on a shift-to-shift basis.
