About The Position

The Supervisor, Nursing represents Corning Hospital and Nursing Administration in their absence. The role supports staffing and scheduling, professional nursing practice, emergency response, employee health matters, regulatory compliance, patient and family communication, service recovery, staff development, and quality improvement activities.

Requirements

• License to practice in the State of New York.
• Five years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.
• One year of experience in Critical Care.
• Demonstrated abilities in leadership and clinical roles.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in staffing and scheduling personnel, considering appropriate utilization, scope of practice, competencies, patient needs, and complexity of care.
• Support a professional practice environment that fosters excellence in nursing practice.
• Foster professional nurses’ empowered decision-making, accountability, and autonomy.
• Respond to emergency codes and crisis interventions, assuming an appropriate role.
• Address Employee Health incidents appropriately.
• Demonstrate knowledge of NYSDOH codes and reporting requirements.
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare providers regarding patient care.
• Promote service recovery effectively.
• Maintain confidentiality while serving as a professional liaison with the community.
• Mentor nursing staff development.
• Participate in professional continuing education programs.
• Participate in nursing committees, performance improvement activities, and initiatives.
• Perform other duties as necessary.
