About The Position

Co-ordinate and supervise the activities of skilled and unskilled maintenance workers. Ensure proper methods and procedures are followed to maintain the efficient operation and upkeep of all equipment and facilities. This role involves supervising maintenance staff, managing preventive and predictive maintenance activities, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards. Maintain production equipment in a manner that meets organization standards and ensure minimum equipment downtime. Inspect projects to ensure conformity to specifications, direct safety inspections and preventative maintenance programs. Responsible for maintaining stock of inventory of materials, parts, and specialized tools for the maintenance function.

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is required.
  • Trade certification in a relevant trade is required.
  • Minimum of five years in a maintenance machining environment
  • Previous leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team.
  • Strong background in failure analysis and diagnostic procedures
  • Ability to work independently to provide professional guidance and oversight to maintenance and installation tasks and projects.
  • Previous experience in establishing and managing work schedules and shift priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in developing and overseeing operating and project budgets.
  • Knowledge of all applicable Microsoft word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the activities of maintenance employees and equipment, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Effectively Identify, evaluate, and resolve employee issues alongside management.
  • Complete performance evaluations for all maintenance employees.
  • Mentor and facilitate career development for maintenance staff, including identifying potential apprentices.
  • Recommend training programs and career development initiatives for team members.
  • Ensure appropriate parts and supplies are available to efficiently maintain essential equipment and uptime.
  • Manage and direct all preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PD) activities.
  • Maintain applicable maintenance systems and all related documentation and ensure compliance with applicable health and safety regulations, including Ontario Fire Codes and Fire Suppression systems.
  • Arrange for quotes from contractors in conjunction with maintenance/materials buyer.
  • Ensure all contractors have appropriate documentation in compliance with H&S standards, as well as maintain proper documentation for contractors and visitors.
