About The Position
The Supervisor Laundry oversees a complete laundry facility that processes linens for hotel guest rooms, food and beverage operations, pool towel services, convention centers, and employee uniforms. This supervisor-level role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of laundry equipment and an assigned team of up to 100 team members. The position tracks and reports departmental productivity, interprets daily ordering, and ensures work assignments are completed accurately and on time in a fast-paced environment. The supervisor provides equipment and safety training, monitors team attendance and compliance, troubleshoots minor equipment jams and loading issues, and leads team communications. The role also coaches and develops employees, supports department policies and procedures, and may issue discipline for policy violations. Strong computer skills and professional written and verbal communication are required. The position requires flexibility to work additional hours and various shifts, weekends, and holidays, as well as the ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
- Ability to safely operate motorized equipment.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft products such as Excel.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to push and pull up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 80 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, reach, and kneel repetitively.
- Ability to safely work with provided cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs and maintain equilibrium.
- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
- Flexible to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to schedule additional hours when needed for projects or onsite coverage.
Nice To Haves
- Prior professional cleaning experience preferred.
- Laundry operations experience is sought for this supervisor-level position.
- Strong understanding of commercial laundry equipment, including washers, dryers, sheet folders, steam tunnels, conveyor belts, ironers, and overhead transportation conveyors.
- Troubleshooting skills for laundry equipment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee laundry operations serving hotel guest rooms, food and beverage operations, pool towel services, convention centers, and employee uniforms.
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation of commercial laundry equipment and oversee an assigned team of up to 100 team members.
- Record daily productivity, interpret daily ordering using Excel or other computer applications, and track team attendance.
- Oversee and facilitate equipment training and ensure team members meet company safety standards and training deadlines.
- Troubleshoot minor laundry equipment jams and loading issues.
- Use electronic MMS work-order systems and company-specific programs as needed.
- Follow safe work practices when working with steam, high-temperature equipment, cleaning chemicals, and other equipment; participate in required safety training and comply with OSHA-related guidelines and department processes.
- Communicate professionally in email correspondence and lead daily communications with team members.
- Complete assigned tasks and meet leadership deadlines without direct monitoring or oversight.
- Oversee hourly team members' daily duties and assignments; provide coaching and praise as warranted.
- Mentor and develop entry-level employees when assigned, supporting their exposure and progress.
- Support compliance with company and department policies and procedures and issue discipline for violations when required.
- Handle tools, supplies, and equipment exceeding 50 pounds, using tool assistance as needed.
- Work additional hours when needed for projects or onsite coverage.
