About The Position

The Supervisor – Janitorial Services will be responsible for supervising and training porters, janitors, and program members at janitorial accounts/sites to ensure proper job performance. This role involves educating and training staff, reporting on their progress, and assisting with cleaning tasks when necessary to ensure the job is completed and staff are learning. The supervisor will report feedback from sites daily to the Assistant Director of Janitorial Services and Director of Maintenance. This is a working supervisor position, meaning the individual will not only supervise but also perform cleaning tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years previous facilities maintenance / janitorial experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of direct experience supervising janitors, or porters.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from the Hackensack office regularly, and from time to time the Oradell office.
  • Must have a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Must be able to use a laptop or tablet to do reports for sites as needed.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects with limited guidance.

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train porters, janitors, and members at janitorial accounts/sites.
  • Educate and train staff on job performance and report on their progress.
  • Assist staff with cleaning tasks when needed to ensure job completion and staff learning.
  • Report all feedback from sites daily to the Assistant Director of Janitorial Services and Director of Maintenance.
  • Provide direct supervision to assigned staff to enhance their skill sets and commercial cleaning abilities.
  • Provide on-going support to staff to ensure completion of job responsibilities.
  • Review staff responsibilities to determine time frame and scope of authority.
  • Review staffing requirements and allotments of available resources.
  • Evaluate staff productivity and documentation of service delivery.
  • Train new employees.
  • Plan, assign and direct work.
  • Appraise performance.
  • Reward and discipline employees.
  • Address complaints and resolve problems.
  • Supervise staff on-site, including janitors, porters, and program members.
  • Clean sites when assistance is needed to maintain cleanliness.
  • Supervise the interior and exterior of buildings and grounds at janitorial sites to ensure they are free of debris.
