About The Position

The Supervisor – Janitorial Services will be responsible for supervising and training porters, janitors, and program members at various janitorial accounts/sites to ensure they are performing their duties correctly. This role involves educating and training staff, reporting on their progress, and assisting with cleaning tasks when necessary to ensure the job is completed effectively, while also facilitating staff learning. The supervisor will provide daily feedback to the Assistant Director of Janitorial Services and Director of Maintenance. This is a working supervisor position, meaning the individual will also perform cleaning tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of previous facilities maintenance/janitorial experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of direct experience supervising janitors or porters.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Hackensack office regularly, and occasionally the Oradell office.
  • Valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Ability to use a laptop or tablet for site reports.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with limited guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and train porters, janitors, and program members at janitorial accounts/sites.
  • Educate and train staff on proper job performance and report on their progress.
  • Assist staff with cleaning tasks when needed to ensure job completion and facilitate staff learning.
  • Report all feedback from sites daily to the Assistant Director of Janitorial Services and Director of Maintenance.
  • Provide direct supervision to assigned staff to enhance their skill sets and commercial cleaning abilities.
  • Provide ongoing support to staff to ensure completion of job responsibilities.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with agency policies, applicable laws, and governmental regulatory agencies.
  • Review staff responsibilities to determine time frame and scope of authority.
  • Review staffing requirements and allotments of available resources.
  • Evaluate staff productivity and documentation of service delivery.
  • Train new employees, plan, assign and direct work, appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, address complaints, and resolve problems.
  • Supervise staff on-site, including janitors, porters, and program members.
  • Clean sites when assistance is needed to maintain cleanliness of NJFH janitorial sites.
  • Supervise the interior and exterior of buildings and grounds at janitorial sites to ensure common areas are free of debris.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of ability.
