About The Position

The Supervisor, Facility Quality Assurance is a specialized position accountable for contributing to HWI’s overall business performance by ensuring compliance with legal regulations and the company’s established quality assurance controls, specifications, and standards, including ISO regulations. The role supervises quality assurance technicians and manages quality processes, inspections, product complaint investigations, batch cards, and plant quality continuous-improvement activities.

Requirements

• One to five years of Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment; refractory-related industry experience is preferred.
• Education typically acquired through a formal two-year program, such as an associate or technical degree, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Knowledge of and familiarity with the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management System.
• Interpersonal and supervisory skills for working with superiors, peers, and subordinates.
• Manufacturing process experience.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a refractory-related industry.

Responsibilities

• Supervise quality assurance technicians and lead quality assurance initiatives, including planning activities, scheduling staffing needs, and providing training and coaching.
• Plan, execute, and oversee inspection and testing of incoming and outgoing products to confirm conformance to specifications and quality deliverables.
• Analyze and investigate product complaints or reported quality issues and ensure closure in accordance with company guidelines and external regulatory requirements.
• Manage the effective and efficient implementation of quality-related processes and procedures to ensure compliance with the ISO 9001 standard.
• Manage product formula batch cards.
• Support HarbisonWalker International’s continuous-improvement activities related to plant quality functions.
