About The Position

Orlando Health is a large healthcare system with numerous hospitals, specialized institutes, and various healthcare services. The Supervisor Facilities role involves providing direct supervision and coordination of building activities across hospital and non-hospital facilities. This includes overseeing the daily operations of professional and skilled tradesmen, technicians, maintenance engineers, and support personnel. The position requires technical assistance in diagnosing and resolving issues with equipment, utilities, and building systems, as well as planning and managing corrective and preventive maintenance programs to ensure cost-effectiveness and optimal equipment operation. The role also involves monitoring maintenance task completion rates, managing parts and supply procurement, contributing to capital planning, coordinating contracted maintenance, and training engineering staff. Additionally, the supervisor is responsible for documenting inspections, assisting management with daily activities, and communicating effectively with leadership regarding operations and concerns. Personnel management functions such as hiring, work assignments, coaching, and disciplinary actions are also key aspects of this role, alongside maintaining regular attendance and compliance with all Orlando Health policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Five (5) years’ experience in the maintenance and trades field.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical assistance to engineers by diagnosing, troubleshooting and resolving problems associated with the operation and repair of equipment, utilities, and building systems.
  • Plans, directs, controls, implements and supervises assigned corrective and preventive maintenance programs. Ensures lowest controllable costs, optimum operation of equipment, satisfactory results from maintenance and repair or installation work performed by assigned personnel.
  • Monitors completion rates of all corrective and preventive maintenance tasks and ensures timely completion as scheduled and reports any anomalies to engineering leadership
  • Coordinates and manages all research for parts and supplies, selection of products and procurement needs for the department using organizations purchase order system or procurement cards.
  • Provides valuable insight to engineering leadership in determining the organizations capital planning for building systems and equipment.
  • Plans and coordinates all contracted maintenance activities with vendors.
  • Performs as an educator by training engineering staff in operation and maintenance of hospital or non-hospital building systems and equipment.
  • Performs, supervises and documents inspections of hospital or non-hospital systems required by code and regulatory agencies.
  • Assists the Assistant Facilities Manager and/or Facilities Manager in all daily activities.
  • Communicates with the Assistant Facilities Manager and/or Facilities Manager concerning assignments and keeps engineering management informed of activities, needs and concerns.
  • Supports the engineering department through team commitment and staff involvement in engineering affairs.
  • Manages various personnel functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining department standards of operation, policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, and infection prevention & control activities that are current and up-to-date.
  • Ensures compliance with The Joint Commission and other licensure requirements, including: maintaining current operational and repair manuals for all utilities equipment, performing regularly scheduled tests of fire alarm system and keeping documentation current, informing and assisting the Assistant Facilities Manager and/or Facilities Manager in resolving problems with fire alarm system, assisting in development of department budget, investigating incidents involving utilities equipment and making appropriate recommendation to the Manager.
  • Ensures that work sites are left clean and that tools are returned to proper location.
