About The Position

Encoded Therapeutics Inc. is a biotechnology company advancing precision medicines for genetic disorders through genomics-driven discovery and viral gene therapy. The Facilities Supervisor is a hands-on leader responsible for day-to-day facilities operations and maintenance, vendor and contractor coordination, and compliance with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. The role supervises contract staff, manages critical facility programs, and partners with site functions to maintain safe, compliant, and reliable operations.

The supervisor oversees facilities operations, maintenance, soft services, and related compliance programs; performs hands-on troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance; and owns maintenance programs for facilities, utilities, and infrastructure. The role also oversees site EHS programs and regulated medical and hazardous waste activities, coordinates contractors and suppliers, manages service requests and consumables within approved budgets, and represents Facilities during audits, inspections, and internal reviews. The position makes day-to-day operational decisions within established guidelines and escalates significant issues and risks to management.

Requirements

• Prior experience in facilities, utilities, and maintenance operations, or a similar role in a GMP or regulated laboratory environment.
• Experience coordinating and supervising contractors, vendors, or small teams.
• Familiarity with EHS programs and regulated medical and hazardous waste handling.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation, scheduling, and vendor coordination.
• Ability to work hands-on in a facilities environment and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day facilities operations and maintenance, soft services, and compliance programs.
• Perform hands-on facilities work, including troubleshooting and repair of facilities, utilities, infrastructure equipment and systems, and preventive maintenance.
• Own preventive and non-routine maintenance programs for facilities, utilities, and infrastructure.
• Participate in capital planning with the V.P. CMC Projects and other Engineering and Operational leaders.
• Represent Facilities in audits and inspections; own preparation, documentation, and follow-up for facilities-related inquiries.
• Manage contractors and third-party suppliers to ensure services meet contract, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
• Schedule, coach, and evaluate contract employees and vendor staff against established goals and expectations.
• Plan coverage to ensure appropriate on-site facilities support during normal and off-hours as needed.
• Oversee site EHS programs, including near-miss and incident reporting and follow-up, training, waste management, chemical hygiene, and PPE compliance.
• Manage regulated medical waste and hazardous waste, including internal collection and packing coordination, vendor pickups, supplies and containers, manifests, waste profiles, cradle-to-grave tracking, and regulatory record retention.
• Coordinate facilities and EHS service requests and procurement of consumables for waste, cleaning, and gowning programs.
• Keep vendor services and consumable purchases within approved budgets; manage supplies to avoid stockouts and over-ordering.
• Adhere to SOPs and documentation requirements in GMP and regulated environments; support inspections, audits, and internal reviews.
• Make day-to-day operational decisions within established guidelines, resolve routine operational issues, and escalate matters when appropriate.
• Proactively update management on significant issues, decisions, escalations, and risks requiring leadership visibility.
