About The Position

Provides daily operations oversight for the central telemetry department by providing guidance, direction, and fulfilling charge duties as needed. Daily oversight includes monitoring workflows, assignments, staffing levels and making adjustments to meet productivity levels and conducting audits to maintain patient safety. Through the use and application of critical thinking skills, acts as an expert resource to teammates, which includes training/orientation, day-to-day direction, and accountability to expected workflows. Maintains budget stewardship by ensuring adequate supplies, equipment, and inventory are available for both safe patient care and a safe work environment. Collaborates with manager and committees to develop and enhance best practices. Collaborates with the nurses to develop and provide education. Performs human resources responsibilities for staff which includes coaching on performance, completes performance reviews and overall staff morale. Recommends hiring, compensation changes, promotions, corrective action decisions, and terminations. Responsible for understanding and adhering to the organization's Code of Ethical Conduct and for ensuring that personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations, and laws applicable to the organization's business. Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Age-specific information is developed further in the departmental job standards.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse; Licensed in the regional state of scope (currently IL).
  • Certified in a related specialty or leadership area (e.g., PCCN)
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in one or more specialty areas of Nursing (telemetry, critical care, emergency services) with lead or senior level experience.
  • Expert in telemetry.
  • Excellent problem solving, decision-making and listening skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with and establish/build relationships with others.
