About The Position

UPMC Presbyterian is hiring a Full-Time Supervisor, Central Sterile Processing. This role involves leading a high-performing team behind life-saving procedures, guiding operations, mentoring staff, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, precision, and patient care. The position offers a leadership opportunity within a critical support department, working overnight hours (Monday–Friday) with rotating weekend call every 4 weeks. The role focuses on driving innovation, safety, and efficiency in surgical support services, and making a lasting impact through mentorship, collaboration, and quality improvement.

Requirements

High School Graduate or equivalent.
3 years experience in central sterile processing required.
2 years supervisory or team leader experience required.
Ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff of other hospital departments, and outside contacts.
Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.

Responsibilities

Lead daily operations of the department, ensuring top-tier cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of surgical instruments
Supervise, mentor, and support a team of skilled technicians, promoting a culture of accountability, growth, and compassion
Serve as a key resource for clinical teams, solving issues, answering questions, and ensuring service excellence
Partner with the manager to maintain compliance with regulatory and safety standards
Drive performance improvement and help spread best practices across the department and hospital
Champion education and development by coordinating internal and external training opportunities
Lead initiatives that promote diversity, team wellness, and a positive work culture
Participate in staff evaluations, scheduling, and strategic planning for departmental success
Share knowledge through presentations, posters, and innovation efforts
