About The Position

Coordinates the daily operations of the department functions and assures instrument and equipment processing including; cleaning and decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, and distribution to the patient care givers. Supervises employees and serves the customer as a resource to service problems and/or questions.

Requirements

High School Graduate or equivalent.
3 years experience in central sterile processing.
2 years supervisory or team leader experience required.
Ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff of other hospital departments, and outside contacts.
Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds.

Assumes shared responsibility and coordination of all ordering of instrumentation in collaboration with the Operating Room, updating of all count sheets within the instrument tracking system, ensures that instrumentation sets missing critical components are returned to circulation in a timely fashion.
Serves as a resource for the instrument tracking system.
Assists in the coordination of streamlining and consolidation of instrumentation sets to improve the throughout performance of Sterile Reprocessing.
Remains highly accessible and visible for proactive troubleshooting and problem-solving across the OR and Sterile Processing Department.
