About The Position

A Business Services Group (BSG) Supervisor is responsible for planning, supervising, and completing multiple client engagements for privately held business clients and high-net-worth individuals, with a focus on tax compliance, accounting, business advisory, and proactive tax planning services. This position serves as a primary point of contact for clients, provides a complete and technically sound work product for review by Principals, and actively develops, mentors, and trains Staff Accountants.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Accounting certificate.
  • 4 - 7 years of tax and accounting exp.
  • An understanding of the basic principles of accounting.
  • CPA, EA or similar certification.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of US tax regulations.
  • Knowledge of state and federal tax form processes and how to accurately properly prepare forms for each.
  • Ability to prioritize daily tasks and meet timely obligations with many clients.
  • Knowledge of accounting processes and advanced mathematical skills.
  • Experience consulting tax handbooks or other printed materials to determine the proper procedure for preparing challenging returns.
  • Skilled using various accounting software and experience in troubleshooting common accounting program problems.
  • Personal integrity when working with personal and sensitive financial information.
  • Professional experience in financial forecasting and risk analysis.

  • Proficiency with CCH Axcess products.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks online and/or desktop.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews complex federal and state business income tax returns, including Forms 1065, 1120S, and 1120, ensuring accuracy, technical quality, and appropriate documentation.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves multistate tax issues, including nexus, apportionment, filing requirements, state withholding or composite return considerations, and related client matters.
  • Conducts and interprets complex tax research on federal, state, and local tax matters; summarizes conclusions clearly and applies technical guidance to client facts and engagement deliverables.
  • Leads complex business and owner tax planning engagements, including quarterly projections, entity-level tax strategies, state tax considerations, and the integration of business tax planning positions into owner-level Form 1040 tax planning and estimated tax calculations.
  • Plans, supervises, and completes multiple BSG client engagements, including monitoring workflow, budgets, deadlines, deliverables, and client communications.
  • Reviews workpapers, tax returns, accounting records, and client correspondence for completeness, technical accuracy, organization, and consistency with KWC standards.
  • Serves as a primary client contact and communicates timely and professionally with clients and co-workers.
  • Supervises, trains, mentors, and develops Staff Accountants by reviewing work, answering questions, monitoring progress, and providing timely and constructive feedback.
  • Understands and applies relevant accounting principles, tax laws, KWC policies, and technology systems; continually learns new laws, processes, applications, and procedures.
  • Demonstrates leadership qualities consistent with building and managing a professional team, fostering collaboration, celebrating team successes, and maintaining positive working relationships.
  • Uses sound professional judgment to identify issues, evaluate possible solutions, improve processes, and support engagement profitability while maintaining high standards of excellence and integrity.
  • Recruits, hires, and conducts performance evaluations.
  • Implements training, or identifies training opportunities.
  • Handles corrective action and termination as needed, and in accordance with firm’s policies.
