About The Position

Our Bus Operations West Office is seeking an experienced Supervisor, Bus Garage Operations to ensure that bus service is reliably provided each day, with significant attention to efficiency, safety, and customer experience in alignment with the mandate and commitments of Metrolinx. Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Requirements

  • Completion of a high school diploma – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Demonstrated years of experience as a Truck and Coach Technician, preferably with supervisory experience in a unionized environment
  • Must have a valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence and meet the corporate standard for a good driving record.
  • Valid Truck and Coach Technician (310T) certification with Interprovincial Red Seal is required
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Ontario Class “C” driver’s licence and “Z” endorsement
  • Must successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy
  • Detailed knowledge of heavy transit vehicle maintenance and repair, performed to manufacturers specifications, proficiency in the reading of schematics and state of the art transit and mechanical technology
  • Knowledge of garage management practices, preventative maintenance theory, and pertinent Ministry of Transportation-Ontario, Ministry of Environment, and legislated Ministry of Labour requirements.
  • Ability to supervise and organize the work output of several work units
  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive Service Technician (310S) designation is an asset
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office word processing and spreadsheet applications, and data entry an asset

Responsibilities

  • Supervising all assigned bargaining unit personnel
  • Supervises and coordinates motor coach inspections, repairs, cleaning, and maintenance operations to maintain service vehicle availability and revenues.
  • Ensuring that all work adheres to Ministry of Transportation legislated requirements.
  • Reviews Bus Operations Daily Logs for collisions; reviews damage.
  • Coordinating the repair and return of bus equipment with outside contractors, investigating employee complaints and handling grievances.
  • Investigates motor vehicle collisions and recommends corrective and preventive actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
