About The Position

Responsible for the supervision of all bus drivers with emphasis on safety, training and compliance with all governing and licensing bodies, to include, but not limited to 19-A. Knowledge of all laws and safety regulations as it pertains to bus drivers, passenger safety, and vehicles. Responsible for the training of all designated personnel.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience with transportation operations.
  • High School Diploma
  • Three years of supervisory experience overseeing personnel in a management capacity.
  • CDL license with appropriate endorsement
  • Driver training certifications
  • 19-A Bus Driver Examiner Certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Excellent Communication and Computer Skills.
  • Ability to Implement Regulations and Meet Policy Requirements.
  • Time Management.

  • Personal Effectiveness/Credibility.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for training, leading, supervising, and motivating the driving team.
  • Update and maintain schedule for the driving team for 5310 and 5311 transportation.
  • Maintain all time and attendance records for bus drivers.
  • Conduct operator assessments with behind the wheel training and reviews of daily work schedule to ensure operators have enough time for recovery between assignments and ensure proper route coverage with minimal overtime impact.
  • Develop safety programs based on applicable regulations and ensure compliance from drivers.
  • Schedule all training and testing for bus drivers, following regulations and maintain all documentation as required by the agency and governing bodies to include, St. Lawrence County, DMW, DOT, FTA, etc.
  • Complete all 90-day and annual evaluations on bus drivers.
  • Manage and maintain files and update software programs for reporting and tracking purposes.
  • Research and analyze schedules, including route deviations recorded on daily tracking logs, using in person and mobile data collection to assist with route recommendations.
  • Ensure driving certification of all personnel who drive agency vehicles, as well as review all abstracts on an annual basis.
  • Assist the in procurement, ordering and management of documentation as needed and available working in coordination with the Purchasing and Accounting Departments.
  • Perform or ensure that daily safety inspections are conducted to minimize and address any possible safety hazards, and to ensure all equipment is being utilized safely and properly.
  • Attend and satisfactorily complete all required trainings, which may include travel.
