About The Position

This Laboratory Supervisor role is specific to the Anatomic Pathology Department. The supervisor will provide direct oversight of anatomic pathology operations, workflows, and staff. Current certification as a Histotechnologist (HT or HTL) is preferred to perform and ensure appropriate technical expertise and leadership within the AP environment. This is an exempt position. The role involves functioning independently and collaboratively with the laboratory leadership in performing supervision of laboratory staff, including hiring and termination, performance review, coaching, corrective action, and development of performance improvement plans. The supervisor provides site operation oversight and is responsible for implementing LEAN workflow principles and best practices in laboratory processes and operations. Site responsibility may include technical oversight of work responsibilities of professional laboratory practice. The role may involve performing a wide variety of complex diagnostic and therapeutic testing, acting as a resource for problem resolution and interpretation of results, and may be responsible for instrument correlation and method validation. The supervisor will correlate data based on clinical knowledge, technical expertise, and other conditions affecting test results. Participation in laboratory quality assurance programs and performance improvement activities is expected. The role includes assisting with staff and student training, orientation of new employees, reviewing and updating procedures, and providing direction and problem-solving skills for laboratory functions. The supervisor will also implement standardization efforts in the laboratory. This position is not eligible for sponsorship, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F1 STEM OPT extension program. A 2-year commitment to the role is required.
