About The Position

The Lyon College School of Veterinary Medicine (LCSVM) is seeking a collaborative, forward-thinking educator for a non-tenure track faculty position in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology. This role, at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor, aims to redefine the teaching and learning of anatomic pathology by integrating traditional methods with modern educational tools. LCSVM is committed to transforming veterinary education through an integrated learning environment that combines hands-on pathology and necropsy experience with digital pathology, simulation, and imaging. The goal is to prepare veterinarians for evolving diagnostic platforms, interdisciplinary healthcare, and advances in biomedical science.

Requirements

  • Terminal degree such as DVM (or equivalent), MD, and/or PhD, with advanced training in veterinary anatomic pathology.

Nice To Haves

  • Board eligibility or certification in Veterinary Anatomic Pathology.
  • Advanced degree, such as Master's of Science and/or doctoral degree.
  • Prior teaching experience in a veterinary or medical school.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in academic, diagnostic, or professional settings.
  • Record of scholarly activity in pathology, diagnostics, education, innovation, entrepreneurship, and/or biomedical research.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver anatomic pathology instruction using a blended learning model, integrating traditional lectures, microscopy, necropsy, and case discussions with technology-enhanced approaches such as digital slides, virtual microscopy, simulation, and case-based learning environments.
  • Teach core content in gross pathology, histopathology, organ system pathology, mechanisms of disease, and clinical pathologic correlation, emphasizing diagnostic reasoning and clinical relevance.
  • Engage students across multiple settings including classroom, laboratory, necropsy suite, microscopy lab, and simulation-based environments to support diverse learning styles and promote active learning.
  • Contribute to curriculum integration and innovation, working collaboratively to vertically and horizontally link pathology with clinical medicine and foundational sciences.
  • Participate in student assessment, feedback, and remediation, ensuring graduates meet high standards for morphologic interpretation, critical thinking, and professional competence.
  • Mentor students in scholarly and creative activities related to pathology, diagnostics, education, or innovation.
  • Maintain teaching and disciplinary excellence through continuing professional development and engagement with advances in pathology, diagnostics, and educational methodology.
  • Contribute scholarly work that may include educational innovation, diagnostic scholarship, research, authorship, presentations, or entrepreneurial initiatives.
  • Provide service to the institution and profession through committees, leadership, outreach, and engagement with professional organizations.
