About The Position

Haleon is seeking a Thermal Power Plant Supervisor and Integrated Infrastructure Management professional to join their Montreal (Saint-Laurent) team. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliable and innovative operation of their facilities. The ideal candidate is an engineer motivated by supervising thermal power plant operations and managing suppliers. The position holder is responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient supervision of the thermal power plant operations, as well as utility and building services for the site, ensuring their availability 24/7 without compromising health, safety, or compliance. They also lead the integrated infrastructure management program for the Ville Saint-Laurent site and coordinate the activities of the contracted management firm to ensure the smooth operation of the site. In this role, they ensure that service delivery meets operational expectations and requirements defined in the established contractual framework.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in French is required for effective communication and adherence to operational and regulatory standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in thermal power plant operations and industrial utility management (steam, compressed air, chilled water, HVAC).
  • Experience in supervising technical teams and providing operational field support.
  • Demonstrated experience or aptitude in managing suppliers and service contracts.
  • Good knowledge of building systems, including the use of a BMS.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Knowledge of health & safety requirements, regulatory compliance, and GMP (pharmaceutical or regulated environment - an asset).
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a 24/7 operational environment and manage priorities in critical situations.
  • Adaptability and openness to innovation, particularly for integrating new technologies, improving energy efficiency, or optimizing systems.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) required - Candidates must be bilingual in French and English (written/spoken) due to the nature of the work, which involves close collaboration with internal/external stakeholders in other provinces/countries who may not speak French.

Responsibilities

  • Safely, reliably, and efficiently supervise the operations of the site's thermal power plant.
  • Coach, support, and coordinate the MMF operators team reporting to the thermal power plant.
  • Supervise the operation and maintenance of utility systems.
  • Monitor facilities via the BMS, acknowledge alarms, and quickly coordinate corrective actions to ensure continuity and safety of building services.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs.
  • Troubleshoot utility system issues.
  • Ensure continuous availability of utilities and building services (steam, compressed air, chilled water, HVAC), 24/7, without risks to health, safety, environment, or regulatory compliance.
  • Lead the integrated infrastructure management program for the Ville Saint-Laurent site.
  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of the external provider contracted for infrastructure operation and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual commitments, service levels, and site expectations.
  • Act as a liaison between different plant departments and the external provider.
  • Ensure achievement of operational, financial, performance, quality, compliance, and health & safety objectives.
  • Implement and monitor performance indicators (KPIs) and analyze deviations.
  • Lead performance follow-up meetings with the provider and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, EHS, regulatory, and GMP requirements.
  • Verify the execution of activities using control mechanisms and targeted audits.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, technical teams, and capital projects for the maintenance and evolution of facilities.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of major site maintenance shutdowns.
  • Manage changes and document traceability to prevent contractual disputes.
  • Critically assess the provider's activities and recommendations to protect the site's interests.
  • Ensure compliance of utility systems with regulations.
  • Update systems according to regulatory changes.
  • Monitor utility usage to save energy.
  • Implement energy-efficient technologies.
  • Track performance indicators related to energy efficiency.
  • Implement safety protocols for utility systems.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections.
  • Train personnel on safety and emergency procedures.
  • Provide technical support for the management and operation of thermal power plant facilities, including operational issue analysis and technical problem-solving support.
  • Recommend technical improvements.
  • Stay informed about new technologies and best practices.
