About The Position

Responsible for supervising and coordinating crews in electric transmission and substation construction and maintenance. Ensures quality, safety, and production standards are met, and manages all aspects of project execution from planning to closeout.

Requirements

  • Minimum 6 years of craft experience
  • 2 years supervisory in transmission/substation
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA codes and standards
  • Physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds, walk on uneven terrain, climb equipment, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Adherence to company safety and health policies.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee quality, safety, and production of work.
  • Coordinate billing, equipment usage, maintenance, and tool inventories.
  • Supervise personnel evaluations, pay raises, CDL requirements, and resolve personnel issues.
  • Attend and participate in project meetings with owners and internal teams.
  • Review contracts, bids, and secure necessary materials and equipment.
  • Organize crews and assign foremen to job tasks.
  • Monitor major project activities (locates, environmental, subcontractor work, pole setting, wire stringing).
  • Update schedules and progress reports.
  • Maintain communication with inspectors and owners.
  • Document and bill change orders.
  • Conduct and participate in safety meetings and reviews.
  • Active participant in incident reporting, investigations, and ensuring proper usage of Irby Form 44.
  • Responsible for cost, progress, and schedule throughout the project.
  • Review and sign superintendent’s reports, time sheets, job briefings, and billings.
  • Adjust personnel or equipment as needed.
  • Assist with monthly forecasts and business unit support.
  • Ensure compliance with safety programs and review all accidents.
  • Address complaints from owners, public, or landowners.
  • Negotiate changes to scope and pricing with guidance from business unit.
  • Ensure close-out procedures are followed, and final billing is accurate.
  • Evaluate bid opportunities and assist with bid preparation.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership presence and actively engage with crews on-site.
  • Understand the full scope of work, contract units, and identify out-of-scope changes that drive change orders.
  • Perform job layout, plan work, and strive to exceed bid rates.
  • Line out multiple crews and ensure planned work is executed safely, meets quality standards, and maintains productivity targets.
  • Be a present leader—first to arrive, last to leave—interacting with crews and monitoring progress regularly.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and be attentive to customer needs and requests.
  • Ensure reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Hire and manage careers of existing employees to support their growth and retention.
  • Be aware of equipment and tooling needs within their remit and ensure timely requests for missing or additional resources.
  • Delegate effectively; this role is not responsible for running parts, clerical tasks, or material handling.
