About The Position
The Superintendent, Dr. Pascal Mubenga, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the position of 2026 Summer String Enrichment Camp Music Teacher. This role involves teaching strings and vocal music, with an hourly rate and specific dates for setup, student instruction, and cleanup. The location is PS 192 Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts, subject to change. Candidates must hold New York State certification in Music. Priority will be given to qualified permanent/tenured/probationary/temporary Buffalo Public School teachers based on summer school seniority. Teachers are expected to serve the full term of the program.
Requirements
- Hold a New York State certification in Music
- Upload a copy of your NYS certification(s)
- Ensure that your name is visible, as well as your certification area(s)
- Accepting this position means agreeing to work the FULL duration of the program
- Candidates for Buffalo Public Schools Summer School are eligible to work in ONLY ONE of the summer programs.
Nice To Haves
- Priority in the selection of teachers will be given to qualified permanent/ tenured/probationary/temporary Buffalo Public School teachers in order of summer school seniority.
- Summer school seniority is defined as previous years of BPS summer employment in a classroom setting.
- Only current and active BPS employees earn summer school seniority.
Responsibilities
- Providing support for small group lessons and large ensemble rehearsals
- Management of lesson schedules
- Maintenance of all related records, including attendance
- Preparation of materials and resources
- Supporting student musicians in the development of their music performance and theory skills
