About The Position

This is a summer school instructor position for the 'Intro to Medical Assisting Careers' program. The position is for the 2025-2026 school year, with specific dates from Monday, June 29, 2026, through Thursday, July 2, 2026, and Wednesday, July 15, 2026, through Friday, July 17, 2026. The role involves 8 days of work, including 1 planning day and 7 instructional days, with 7.0 work hours per day from 7:45 am to 3:15 pm, including a 0.50 lunch break. July 3rd is a non-work/non-paid day. Requirements

  • Hold a current WA State Medical Assisting (MA) Certificate
  • Minimum of three years of medical assisting experience
  • Experience working with medical assistants in a supervisory or instruction environment
  • Knowledge of the health careers profession
  • Must have regular, consistent attendance
  • Qualifies for a Washington state Secondary Vocational Teaching Certificate
  • Qualifies for a Type II Driver's License

Responsibilities

  • Instruct summer school with basic skills and knowledge in health occupations, specifically medical assisting.
  • Manage and teach one section of Medical Assisting.
  • Assume student supervisory responsibilities as assigned.
  • Implement the Medical Assisting curriculum and evaluate daily instruction units to reflect current clinical methods and practices.
  • Promote and supervise student leadership (professional development) activities as an integral part of the curriculum.
  • Evaluate student classroom and clinical experiences.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment; safe and pleasant classroom atmosphere and effective classroom management and discipline procedures while maintaining good instructor/student communication and rapport.
  • Organize, manage, and appropriately maintain the instructional facility, equipment, and resources which will serve as a positive model to students and provide a safe working environment.
  • Work in cooperation with Cascadia Tech administration and staff to positively promote Cascadia Tech, Medical Assisting, and all Academy programs for student recruitment.
