About The Position

This is a summer school instructor position for an Introduction to Graphic Design course at a satellite location, Discovery High School. The position runs from Monday, June 29, 2026, through Friday, July 17, 2026, totaling 15 days (1 planning day + 14 instructional days). The daily work hours are 7.0, from 7:45 am to 3:15 pm, with a 0.50 lunch break. July 3rd is a non-work/non-paid day. Requirements

  • Must qualify for or hold a valid Washington State Career and Technical Education Teacher Certification.
  • Successfully complete Washington State Patrol background.
  • Ability to relate to high school-aged students.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective written and oral communications with diverse community members to include students, staff, parents and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to respond to and engage with a diverse multi-cultural and multi-racial community, and to work side by side and foster strong, positive relationships with parents, staff, students and the public.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in Adobe Illustrator, Canva and digital photography.
  • Responsible for all student supervision and learning.
  • Instruct students in the learning design applications in order for them to pass industry certifications.
  • Provide support of basic academic skills and leadership.
  • Create opportunities for students to engage in design applications.
  • Deliver instructional activities, promote student leadership and well-being, and reinforce the culture of Cascadia Technical Academy.
  • Maintain appropriate student records and report student progress in Skyward System.
  • Create and maintain a classroom environment and behavior management plan that facilitates learning and promotes positive student behaviors.
  • Organize, manage, and appropriately maintain the instructional facility, equipment, resources, and provide a safe working/learning environment.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with students, staff, parents, and community by modeling respect, cooperation, and professionalism with others, recognizing the personal achievements and professional contributions of others and demonstrating knowledge of a sensitivity toward individuals and groups from all racial, ethnic/cultural, national socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Communicate with school personnel and gather information regarding educational.
  • Other duties as assigned.
