About The Position

This summer school instructor position is for the 'Intro to Medical Assisting Careers' program, running from Monday, July 6, 2026, through Tuesday, July 14, 2026. The role involves 8 days of work, including 1 planning day and 7 instructional days, with 7.0 work hours per day from 7:45 am to 3:15 pm, including a 0.50 lunch break. The position is open until a qualified applicant is selected. The instructor will be responsible for teaching basic skills and knowledge in health occupations, specifically medical assisting, managing a section of the Medical Assisting curriculum, and promoting student leadership activities.

Requirements

  • Hold a current WA State Medical Assisting (MA) Certificate
  • Minimum of three years of medical assisting experience
  • Experience working with medical assistants in a supervisory or instruction environment
  • Knowledge of the health careers profession
  • Must have regular, consistent attendance
  • Qualifies for a Washington state Secondary Vocational Teaching Certificate
  • Qualifies for a Type II Driver's License
  • Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct summer school with basic skills and knowledge in health occupations, specifically medical assisting.
  • Manage and teach one section of Medical Assisting.
  • Assume student supervisory responsibilities as assigned.
  • Implement the Medical Assisting curriculum and evaluate daily instruction units to reflect current clinical methods and practices.
  • Promote and supervise student leadership (professional development) activities as an integral part of the curriculum.
  • Evaluate student classroom and clinical experiences.
  • Maintain a positive learning environment; safe and pleasant classroom atmosphere and effective classroom management and discipline procedures while maintaining good instructor/student communication and rapport.
  • Organize, manage, and appropriately maintain the instructional facility, equipment, and resources which will serve as a positive model to students and provide a safe working environment.
  • Work in cooperation with Cascadia Tech administration and staff to positively promote Cascadia Tech, Medical Assisting, and all Academy programs for student recruitment.
