About The Position

Are you looking for a meaningful summer job? Do you enjoy working with children in need and making a difference in their lives? If you answered YES to either of these questions, then consider joining the Devereux team! Devereux is in need Direct Support Professionals to work with our kids while they are out of school for the summer. Your school may even give you internship credit for this job! The pay range for this position is $20.50 to $23.87 per hour depending on education and experience. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 9am-3pm This position may be located in Rutland, Paxton, Webster, or Fitchburg, MA. Devereux Massachusetts and Rhode Island is a nationally recognized organization dedicated to helping children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders. Through our residential and placement services in the community, we help individuals learn the skills needed for independent living and making meaningful life choices. We provide supportive settings in comfortable home environments and ensure that individuals have access to services that are appropriate to their developmental level, and cognitive, emotional, and social abilities.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older. Exceptions may be considered for 20 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license required .
  • High School diploma or GED required .

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
  • Previous experience working with individuals under 21 with psychological, emotional, and behavioral disorders, and/or autism spectrum disorders preferred .

Responsibilities

  • Be passionate about working with and helping youth.
  • Be responsible for the safety and security of all youth as assigned by providing direct supervision .
  • Provide and ensure therapeutic interventions in a compassionate and safe environment.
  • Engage with youth in a meaningful and positive manner, teaching and prompting appropriate behaviors, and providing positive reinforcement for the same.
  • Teach and assist with Activities of Daily (ADL) Living Skills.
  • Possess adequate organizational and communication skills needed to complete required documentation, such as progress notes and incident reports.
