About The Position

Canadian Parents for French (CPF) is a nationwide, research-informed, volunteer organization that represents members across Canada. We are located across the country with 10 Branches and Offices, and over 100 local community Chapters. We believe the ability to communicate in more than one language fosters creative, empathetic, and adaptive people who access far-reaching opportunities and enhance the social and economic prosperity of our country. Canada has an enviable capacity to ensure that upcoming generations develop this ability in both official languages. We work to ensure that all learners have the opportunity, support, and motivation to learn and use French. Reporting to the Executive Director CPF AB & NWT, the students’ primary project for the summer is to help re-develop the branch website.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of WordPress and able to competently work with other common digital tools, including but not limited to Microsoft Office applications (SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Outlook), JotForm and the internet as a research tool.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both French and English.
  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary studies in computer sciences, communications program, education, business, languages, association management, or a similar field. Can also be a graduate of one of these programs.
  • Candidates must legally be entitled to work in Canada.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the not-for-profit sector, member or volunteer-driven organizations, is considered an asset.
  • Supports promoting learning of both official languages and a bilingual Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Re-developing the branch website.
  • The logistics and operations of “Camping en Francais” event in north-central Alberta during the summer of 2026.
  • Planning of the Falling into French Family Weekend taking place in the fall of 2026.
  • Developing a virtual annual general meeting (AGM) format.
  • Performing daily administration duties. This includes, but is not limited to, answering the phone, dealing with mail, checking and responding to emails, dealing with inquiries from stakeholders, operating a computer and other office equipment.
  • Communicating with stakeholders, volunteers and other staff.
  • Locating, gathering, organizing information, analyzing and applying information using appropriate technology and information systems.
