About The Position

Compass Early Learning and Care (CELC) is seeking passionate, caring, and dedicated educators for a summer program. In this role, you will engage, connect, and learn alongside children, families, community partners, and co-workers. You will model and grow a perspective of equity and strive for a deeper understanding of cultural awareness. The program hours typically run from 7 am to 6 pm, with 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, though hours may be subject to change depending on program need and funding.

Requirements

Is familiar with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards in a childcare program.
Has experience working/volunteering with children and youth.
Possesses the training and documents required by the Ministry of Education, Compass Early Learning and Care, and the Child Care Early Years Act to work in a childcare setting: Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, Updated immunization records (Or a signed and notarized refusal of affidavit or medical exemption).
Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators, or has a post-secondary degree in a similar field (i.e. Forest School Practitioner, Child and Youth Care, Recreation and Leisure, Bachelor of Education, etc)
Access to reliable transportation.

Ensuring the safety of staff and children by learning and acknowledging all children’s diverse needs and backgrounds, and creating equitable opportunities for all children to engage.
Demonstrating respect for spaces by maintaining a safe environment, by providing Risk assessments and implementing safety plans in the areas used in the forest.
Giving the children time and space to play in sensory-rich, experiential learning environments.
Using the environment as inspiration for creative play opportunities.
Living into the calls of action 10 & 63 – sharing the truth of Canada's history & offering an Indigenous lens.
